The Journey Begins

Here we go to continue the wild ride of trying to start a business in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I launched my little business in January with hopes of a full arts and crafts show schedule through 2020. Alas, that was not to be. My very first show in March was cancelled, and the rest fell like dominos. Luckily, when things started to open back up, a few outdoor shows were to be had. Boy did I learn a lot! (Shows will definitely be a future blog topic!) As as the fall progressed, states closed down and shows cancelled...again.

So what's a new business to do? These cancellations gave me time to learn. Learn about online marketplaces, selling on Facebook, and now, launching my own website and online store.

But who am I? My name is Kris and I'm a consummate creator. I've been in and out of the arts and crafts scene for decades, and am growing tired of the poor quality of mass produced goods. There's a new, growing appreciation for quality, handmade items, built to last and maybe, someday, become a family heirloom. So, I decided now's the time to finally make a business out of this! I have a passion for repurposing quality items, which you'll find reflected in the foundations of most of my everlasting bonsai. I dig through mounds of soil to find the perfect stone, peruse resale shops, attend the occasional estate sale, scour the internet, or even purchase the occasional new item. All items I use are physically and spiritually cleansed (a topic for another blog post). But rest assured, all crochet items are made out of new materials only!

I also believe beauty should be affordable and priced fairly. My prices reflect the costs and the care I put into the creation of each everlasting bonsai. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind, genuine work of art. I liken pricing to the the three bears: some will think it too low, some too high, and other just right!

Enough about me for now! Most people I meet ask me how I can up with Luna's Parlour as my business name. Meet Luna -- and welcome to her Parlour (my favorite spelling)! Luna was born on Christmas Eve 2018. Luna's mom was parvo positive. Three of her five pups were parvo positive as well - including Luna. Thanks to Bottle Babies Rescue, Luna survived and made it to her adoption day in March of 2019. She's part of a motley cast of characters that make our lives all that much richer and maybe even the subject of future blog posts!
